2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl (Full Frame, Commemorative Edition)
"Mountaineers Prove to Georgia and the BCS That They Are One of the Best" Atlanta, GA. January 3, 2006. What might have been the biggest upset in BCS history also may have proved to be the biggest win in West Virginia football history. Feeling like a team that had gotten no respect, the Mountaineers jumped all over the SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs and held on at the end to capture the 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl Championship. Despite being champions of the Big East Conference with an overall 2005 record of 10-1, the Mountaineers were heavy underdogs entering the 72nd Nokia Sugar Bowl, played for the first time ever outside of New Orleans. West Virginia used that as motivation to fuel an early 28-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Led by two sensational freshman, Quarterback Pat White and Running Back Steve Slaton, the Mountaineers ran all over the nation's fourth rated defense and helped accumulated 382 rushing yards. Georgia rallied and cut the West Virginia lead to 31-21 at halftime, demonstrating a comeback was still possible. But the Mountaineers would not quit, and despite Georgia cutting the lead to three, held on with one of the most daring calls in bowl history. Hanging on to a three point lead with 1:38 left and facing fourth and six on the Georgia 48 yard-line, West Virginia Head Coach Rich Rodriguez called for a fake punt that punter Phil Brady carried for 10-yards and a first down, enabling the Mountaineers to run out the clock and win its first January bowl game since 1948. This DVD contains the complete 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl, with coverage from ABC Sports, without commercial interruption, presented in fullscreen (1.33:1) digital video. Chapter points on the DVD allow you to jump directly to the action, quarter by quarter. With this DVD, you are in control of every frame of video and every replay of this thrilling BCS Bowl game as the West Virginia Mountaineers stun everyone and become 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl Champions.

The Butterflies of West Virginia and Their Caterpillars by Thomas J. Allen,
The Butterflies of West Virginia and Their Caterpillars by Thomas J. Allen,
Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains and heavily forested, West Virginia is home to more than one hundred species of butterflies and their caterpillars. Wildlife biologist Tom Allen has spent years studying West Virginia's butterflies, tracing their life cycles and compiling information on their habitats culminating in this definitive work on the butterflies of West Virginia and their caterpillars Because of its physiography and geographic location, West Virginia has a wider variety of plant and animal communities than many other eastern states, allowing a larger assortment of butterfly species to flourish. The Diana fritillary (Speyeria diana), for instance, lives in the moist oak-hickory forest of southern West Virginia; wetlands located in lowland meadows and bogs attract such species as the Silver-bordered fritillary (Boloria selene myrina) in open habitats and the Appalachian Brown (Satyrodes a. applachia) in shaded areas. Much of West Virginia's open land is pastured by livestock and home to many species of skippers. Some of the rarest species of butterflies found in the state are in these open areas, including the Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus centaureae wyandot), Olympia Marble (Euchloe olympia), and Cobweb Skipper (Hesperia m. metea). And, of course, many species inhabit urban and suburban yards and gardens. The Butterflies of West Virginia and Their Caterpillars describes 128 species of butterflies found in the state, along with their caterpillars and pupae. Each species account provides a description and information on distribution, habitat, life history, nectar sources, and larval host plants. Butterflies, their caterpillars and pupae are featured in 46 color plates. Detaileddrawings and maps accompany the species accounts. Written for scientists and general enthusiasts alike, the book also includes chapters on studying butterflies and butterfly gardening.
